Twelve. As there is a limited need for civilians, only a few positions
are actually available. If you wish to play a civilian, you must
first meet the requirements. (listed in NEWS CIV-REQUIREMENTS) If you
wish, you may @mail Kalain with your intention to apply for a civilian.
By doing so, you will be told whether or not there is need for a
civilian character without having to go through the rigorous
application process. More information about applying for a Civilian

MILITARY HANDBOOK
MIL-INTRODUCTION
The Colonial Military Handbook
Version 1 Compiled by Commander Adama, 7342
Version 2 Compiled by Commander Adama, 7355
VersionCompiled by Commander Apollo, 7362
(OOC-Written by Falloff, 2000)
Welcome to the Colonial Military!
You will find that from the centon you report on board your assigned Battlestar, whether it is the Galactica, Pegasus, or Daedelus, that you have been accepted into a large family that of those people who have chosen to defend the Fleet. You will find this handbook invaluable during the first duty cycles in what I sincerely hope will be a long and illustrious career. In this handbook, you will find everything you will need to know about serving in the Military in general, as well as in your chosen Department.
Each Department has their own individual section within this Handbook: MIL covers general aspects of the Military which should be read by all, WAR is the section dedicated to the Warriors, BRI is the section dedicated to Bridge Crew, MED is the section dedicated to Medtechs, ENG is the section dedicated to Engineers, and SEC is the section dedicated to Security. It is highly recommended that you read both the MIL section and the section pertaining to your department. Warrior Cadets on the Academia will in fact have an exam taken from the pages of the MIL and WAR sections.
Good luck in your Military career!
Signed,
Commander Apollo
MIL-DEPARTMENTS
The following departments exist within the Colonial Military, each serving a vital purpose within the defense of the Fleet, some of which you will also find on Civilian ships:
Warriors: The Warriors are the intrepid crewmembers who engage the enemies of the Fleet directly, be they the Cylons, Chitain, or whomever would see us destroyed. This department has the highest signup rate, but unfortunately also has the highest death rate due to the dangerous nature of their duties.
Bridge Crew: The members of this department coordinate any and all intership activities, as well as pilot the vessels they are serving aboard. They coordinate and monitor transmissions between Battlestars, Vipers, and any and all ships in the Fleet. From here is the Fleet actually ran. In addition, the Bridge Crew maintains the course, speed, and overall status of their ship.
Medtechs: These personnel maintain the health and well being of everyone in the Military. From treating Warriors injured in combat to helping the servitor in the Officer's Club get over the flu, the Medtechs are there for us all.
Engineering: Engineering personnel are responsible for the upkeep and repair of any and all mechanical equipment in the military. They repair damaged Vipers, perform routine maintenance and damage control over all three Battlestars and the Battlecruisers that came from the colony on Poseidon.
MIL-RANKS
The rank system of the Colonial Military is as follows:
Trainees:
Cadet
Enlisted Personnel:
Private
Corporal
Non-Commissioned Officers
Sergeant
Flight Sergeant
Wing Sergeant
Commissioned Officers:
Ensign Second Class
Ensign First Class
Lieutenant Second Class
Lieutenant First Class
Captain Second Class
Captain First Class
Major
Flag Officers
Lieutenant Colonel
Colonel
Lieutenant Commander
Commander
MIL-PROTOCOL
Each and every rank in the Colonial Military has a system of protocol to guide those dealing with people of those ranks. ALL members of the Military must adhere to this system, even Commander Apollo and Colonel Athena. It is a way of showing respect to all serving with you and helps bind all Military personnel together.
Trainees are a vital portion of the Military, as they strengthen our numbers and replace those who have been lost. They are not stupid, nor should they be treated in such a manner. If at all possible, you should endeavor to help a trainee should you notice one needing assistance and a trainer is not available. When addressing a trainee, refer to them as 'Cadet.' Trainees are not saluted.
Enlisted personnel are relatively new to the Military, and are still 'learning the fiberline' somewhat. They will adjust quickly, but still may need assistance on occasion. When addressing and enlisted person, refer to them as 'Private' or 'Corporal.' Enlisted personnel are not saluted.
Non-Commissioned Officers are more experienced Warriors. Many NCO's are in consideration for training for leadership positions within their Department or Squadron Depending on your Squadron, you might have a Senior Flight Officer, which would be an NCO.
All NCO's, regardless of rank, should be addressed as 'Sergeant.' You should
not salute an NCO unless called to report to one for whatever reason.
Commissioned Officers are generally the leaders of their Department and or Squadron. It is very rare to see a Commissioned Officer that is not in some sort of leadership position. Commissioned Officers also have the
responsibility of training new recruits. Officers should be addressed as
'Ensign,' 'Lieutenant,' 'Captain,' 'Major,' or 'Sir." Officers should be saluted
when you are called to report to one, or at ceremonies where the dress uniform is being worn. (Memorials, Sealings, Award Ceremonies, etc.)
Flag Officers are the ship commanders and overall Leaders of the Fleet. Flag Officers are the highest ranking personnel in the Military. Flag Officers should be addressed as 'Colonel,' 'Commander,' or 'Sir.' You would salute a Flag Officer if called to report to one, or at one of the ceremonies listed above. In addition, if you pass a Flag Officer in a corridor, you should snap to attention, salute, and it is a good idea to voice a 'Good day,
Colonel/Commander.' as well. If a Flag Officer walks into a room, the highest ranking person present should call the room to 'Attention on Deck,' to which all gathered should stand to attention and salute.
MIL-REPORTING
As has been mentioned several times in the above section, there may be an
occasion in which you will be called to report to someone. As with rank, there is proper protocol to reporting in and out.
When reporting in to someone, be sure you knock on the door first and await the person's response before entering. (Make knocking your first pose upon entering a room.) March into the room and come to attention before the person you are reporting to. Salute and say 'Sergeant/Sir, (say your name and rank here) reporting as ordered Sergeant/Sir.' Do not drop your salute until the person you are reporting to has returned it. And also make sure to not call the Commander a Sergeant or a Sergeant 'Sir,' as they will be less than forgiving of the slip. After reporting in properly, the person you are reporting to will either tell you to stand at ease or have a seat.
If you are reporting of your own volition for whatever reason, the protocol is slightly different. Knock on the door first and await the person's response before entering. March into the room then come to attention before the person you are reporting to, salute, and say 'Sergeant/Sir, (say your name and rank here) reporting (give your reason for reporting) Sergeant/Sir.'
When it is time for you to report out, the person you are reporting to will
usually tell you something along the lines of 'That is all' or 'You are
dismissed.' If this is the case, respond with 'Yes Sergeant/Sir' and salute.
When the salute is returned, drop your own salute, return and leave the room. If the person you are reporting to is finished with you but has not directly told you so, you should come to attention, salute, and say 'Sergeant/Sir, (say your name and rank) requesting dismissal.' When the person you are reporting to grants the dismissal and returns the salute, drop your salute, turn, and leave the room. Be VERY sure that the person you are reporting to is indeed finished with you before requesting dismissal as they will be less than happy with you interrupting them and acting as if they are wasting your time. A good sign that the person you are reporting to you is finished with you is when they turn away in their chair, start reading not pertaining to you, etc.
MIL-DETAILS
While Department uniforms are identical no matter what ship one is serving on, there are a few details that are different from ship to ship.
Each military vessel has a unique symbol that is emblazoned on a patch on the right shoulder of the uniform. Patches from the Galactica are white, Pegasus patches are yellow, Daedelus patches are red, and Academia patches are green. The rank insignia for all the ships in the military are yellow.
*OOC-This is done using ansi in your desc. Check out help ansi() for details. Code for the Galactica would be hw, Pegasus would be hy, Daedelus would be hr, and Academia would be hg. Rank insignia would be hy.
WAR-INTRODUCTION
Warrior Department Handbook
Version 1 Compiled by Captain First Class Apollo, 7342
Version 2 Compiled by Captain Second Class Starbuck, 7355
Version 3 Compiled by Captain First Class Starbuck, 7362
Welcome aboard, Warrior!
The Colonial Warriors are among the most famous groups in Colonial history, known throughout the Universe for their skill in battle, bravery, and dedication to duty. However, that of the Colonial Warrior is also the most dangerous designation you will find in the Fleet. It is very likely that you will day on ANY patrol. Warriors can and do die more often than any of us like. However, it is our goal to ensure that if you are forced to give your life in the Fleet's defense it is not brought about by lack of training or knowledge. The Warriors are pretty much one big family, so don't hesitate to ask one of your fellow Warriors if you have a question. And also get to know your fellow Warriors as you never know when they might save your life or you theirs. Don't let the thought of dying in the line of duty discourage you, many of us have gone on to serve long and illustrious careers. You can do the same. Remember your training, always follow proper procedure, acknowledge the existence of the good Lady Luck, and you will do fine.
Captain First Class Starbuck
*OOC-It is a very possible that if you have a Warrior character that they will be killed. When your character dies, they are dead and cannot be resurrected. However, if your character dies during or as a result of severe net lag, sudden disconnection, code errors, or as a result of some other OOC information related problem, contact the admin immediately. Make sure you give them all details surrounding your death. If it is decided that your death was indeed caused by one of the conditions above, you characters death will be retconned and that character can resume RP.
WAR-COC
Every Department in the military has a specific chain of command that details that department's organizational structure from the lowest ranking to the highest ranking. If you have a grievance with another person or policy in the military, follow the chain of command in an attempt to rectify the situation or at least make your opinion known to those necessary to adjust an unfair policy or the like. However if you have a personal grievance with someone else, it is the mature and encouraged thing to do to try to solve said grievance yourselves in an amicable fashion.
The chain of command from the lowest to highest is as follows:
For Trainees aboard the Academia
-Individual Cadet
-Trainer
-Head Trainer
-Commandant
-Fleet Commander
For Graduated Warriors on one of the Battlestars
-Individual Warrior
-Senior Flight Officer (If used in your Squadron)
-Squadron XO
-Squadron Leader
-Strike Leader
-Ship's Colonel
-Ship's Commander
-Fleet Commander
MUSH POLICIES
OOC Policy: All chat channels, pages, & are considered
OOC, nothing said OOC can be used IC. If a player uses OOC information IC the action WILL be retcon'd. Repeated abuse of OOC information can lead to serious consequences, up to and including suspension of access rights to Battlestar
Galatica: TSC.
Players Rights: You have the right to have a safe and fun place
to play. You DO NOT have the right to harass any other player in ANY WAY.
Harassment of any form can get you site locked or in extreme cases
site banned. This MUSH is rated PG-13 PLEASE keep this in mind,
violation of this will result in a verbal warning, repeated violations can
get you denied access.
ADMIN Policy: The Admin of this MUSH have put in many hours of
their time to make this a fun and exciting place. Please respect this,
genuine questions are always accepted, however please don't abuse this.
Admin are not exempt from the rules and policies of this MUSH. If
a player has a complaint about an Admin please send email to
complaints_admin@hotmail.com
or @mail Thoth or Kellin.
Consensual Role-Play: All @emits/say/pose commands in IC areas will be
considered IC action. So if you don't want to RP with someone politely
put them off OOC, don't get started and then decide, nah I didn't want
that to happen. If you think a situation could result in IC death for you
or for anyone else, please, please, please make sure this is discussed in
advance. It's rough having a player get killed off for reasons you don't
agree with, so if there is a chance that you could die, discuss this in
advance so that things can be worked out. The exception to this rule is
when fighting the cylon robots out in space. The odds of your surviving
are about 50:50 at best, so it's entirely possible you will die, and unless
you've gone link-dead there is no hope for you. If, during the course of
RP, something happens which you don't agree with, immediately call
an admin and we'll try to sort things out.
Admin Alts: Many of the admin have alts wandering around RPing up a storm. These players are not to be used as an alternate route for contacting an admin.
Admin Policy: As has been mentioned, admin are subject to MUSH policy as well. We made the rules and we're darned well going to follow them so you had better do so as well.
Admin Policy Part 2: Though we've put all sorts of time into creating this
place it's here for the players. And with that in mind the players come first. At any time if you have problems, concerns, brilliant tp/rp ideas, heck even jokes, send them our way. @mail, e-mail for those admins who've made their e-mail public, bboards, pages, talking in the OOC area if we're there, are all ways to contact an admin, and there are even a couple others which will be made available, such as a +911.
Along those same lines we, the admin, will be constantly in touch with you, the players. Theme/code/rp/tp/fc/even worse jokes than you send us/etc. Information will be posted frequently on the bboards. In the end it's up to the players to check those out to see what's going on, but for sure if it's happening it'll be on a board.
A final note on admin: All decisions made by The Admin are final.
Players Creating TPs: This of course would be our blessing. That way we do less work :). All we ask is that a detailed (to a reasonable amount. Three sentences is not enough, but three pages might be too much, use your judgment though) outline of the TP should be @mailed to Lyra, the TP WIZ.

HISTORY
"There are those who believe that life here began out there, far out in
the universe. With tribes of Humans who may have been the forefathers of
the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. That they may have been the
architects of the Great Pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria,or
Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive, far, far away amongst the stars..."
Long Ago, there was an ancient civilization on the planet Parnassus: The
civilization of Man. Parnassus flourished for many centuries , but fell
plague to the instinctual human tendency to create conflict. They battled
each other on the grounds of regional origins, skin tone, even gender! The
people formed many Houses. Of these was the House of Kobol(the House most relevant to this story). While the rest of Parnassus fell to overpopulation and had developed space travel to set out to colonize planets across the heavens, the House of Kobol's priests and acolytes, known as the Lords of Kobol, lived in seclusion and developed amazing mental powers, chiefly telepathy and clairvoyance. It was at this time that the people of Parnassus discovered the planet Cylon, home to a primitive and barbaric reptilian race. The Parnassians decided prudently to stay clear of Cylon.
Meanwhile, on Parnassus, long before it was known to the rest of the
planet, the House of Kobol knew that the system's star was going nova.
They carefully planned out their exodus for many a yahren, and by the time
they were ready to leave much of the planet had left for the various colonies they had established. The House of Kobol led its people to a remote planet, lush and full of life: the planet named for its colonists, Kobol. Most of Colonial mankind only knows their history from this point forward, and then only sketchy facts richly interwoven with myth and legend, holding a religious reverence for the priests of Kobol similar to that of the House of Kobol's original followers. Within centuries, however, Kobol fell to the same fate of overpopulation that Parnassus had, and the Lords of Kobol were quite disgusted with the rest of humanity in their inability to control themselves and better their minds through strict spiritual discipline.
The average Colonist believes the people of Kobol split into 13 tribes, 12 of which populated the twelve colonies of the Cyrannus system, the thirteenth of which, according to legends that not everyone believes, colonized the fabled planet Earth. What the average Colonist doesn't know is that Earth might have already had a population, and that colonists from Parnassus or the thirteenth tribe may or may not have set off to Earth as new colonies or as additions to an older civilization.
The only truth known to a very select few of direct Kobollian descent is tha the Lords of Kobol were indeed the Thirteenth Tribe and they decided to leave their people behind on Kobol and their destination is thought to have been Earth. But while the Lords of Kobol had a certain distance from their followers, they were not entirely united. One among them gre power-hungry and bitter, seeking power against knowledge, and subjugating the wills of all those he could with his guile and charisma. When he was censured by his fellow Lords he broke away and with his own followers founded the dreaded House of Iblis. Iblis and his followers left Kobol, cutting a swath of defilement and horror through the galaxy. Unlike the other Lords of Kobol, Iblis did not pass on to the Ship of Lights when he died; instead, he became a being of pure malevolence, gaining energy and power by leeching off the energies of fear and death. He sought to corrupt one of the Kobollian descendants, Adama, but failed. He then attempted to corrupt Adama's heir to Kobollian power, Apollo, but again failed. He has played like puppets the minds of human and cylon alike, and the cylon Imperious Leader even holds his voice pattern after that of Count Iblis, the aforementioned Fallen Lord of Kobol.
When the Lords of Kobol left Kobol, a few of their acolytes remained on the planet, while most of their followers left shortly thereafter to form the 12 Colonies, and most of the acolytes to Caprica, where they ruled. For millenia, the Colonies were ruled, quite subtly, by pure-blooded Kobollian, direct descendants to the line of the Lords of Kobol. During these millena, the Colonies lived in relative peace. Unfortunately, as the colonists once again turned to deep space exploration, they had a fateful encounter that would spell their doom. A small people known as the Hasari were conquered and subjugated by the Cylons. As the humans had formed an alliance with the Hasari, they helped the Hasari rebellion and retook their planet from the robotic threat. This of course got the Cylons' attention and they set out to destroy the species that violated their Order. In doing so, they discovered more and more that humanity was vile and unpredictable, ruling their lives with fickle emotions and bouts of passion, which were utterly inconceivable to the Cylons and the 'Peace and Order(as the same concept)' they sought to sustain in the universe. The humans, however, proved to be far more resourceful than the Cylons imagined, and they eventually had to turn to mimicking certain aspects of human experience in order to combat them effectively. This war waged on for a thousand yahren, and in fact is known as the Thousand Yahren War... halfway through this war the colonies were well into constructing the pinnacle of their military prowess: The Colonial Battlestar.
This vessel was so advanced that it indeed was used right up into the end of the war, even though the fighters it launched were rapidly updated, improved, and redesigned, as the original Scarab gave way to the Asp which gave way to the Cobra, which in turn was retired in favor of the Viper in its original Starhound class. Even after the flight from the colonies, human engineers continued developing their fighter, creating two variants to the Starhound Viper: the Recon class, with enhanced speed and an advanced computer intelligence system known as C.O.R.A.(Computerized Oral Response Activated), the Azure class, refitted with heavier armor and larger payload capacity, for use as a strategic fighter-bomber, and the Scarlet Class, with enhanced speed, control, and weapons systems, for use as a fighter-interceptor. However, the Battlestar was such an advanced class that it has undergone little in the way of development over the yahren, being very adaptive to any combat situation. With this new addition to the Colonial Fleet, the Cylon menace was held at bay until the end of the sixth milleneum of Man.
The dawn of the seventh millenium of Man brought about a new hope for peace. Count Baltar, Piscon's representative to the Quorum of the Twelve, who governed over the Colonies, made a dubious deal with the Cylons: In exchange for helping them destroy the Colonies through deceit and treachery, would be given rule over his home planet. Baltar returned to the humans claiming to be a human-cylon liason and that he had come bearing a message that the cylons sued for peace. In reality it was a ruse to gather the Colonial Fleet near Cimtar in order to isolate them, pulling them away from the main scene of conflict and sending base ships to destroy the 12 colonies. Adama realized this just too late, and had withdrawn from the battle only to find the colonies all but destroyed. Meanwhile, the battle drew to a close as the Galactica's remaining pilots, along with 16 assorted pilots who were the sole survivors of the other Battlestars, rendezvoused with the Galactica over Caprica, where she gathered 220 assorted ships to form a fleet that would journey the stars in search of the thirteenth tribe and the fabled planet Earth. The people felt betrayed, that they should fight back against the cylons after a disaster that claimed an unfathomable 70 billion human lives over the course of one short secton.
"Yes, we're going to fight back, but we can't fight back here, and not now.
And not in the colonies, not even in this star system. We must gather together every survivor from each of the twelve worlds, every man, woman, and child who's survived this infamy. We must get word to them to set sail at once, in any vehicle that'll carry them, no matter what its state."
-Adama, in Larson's novel adaptation of "Saga of a Star World"

BG-EPISODES
After 1000 yahrens of war, the Cylon Empire decided to offer the humans
a peace treaty. Using Count Baltar as a go-between, Baltar had agreed
to lure the colonists to be spared in exchange for his colony to be spared.
He wished the colonists subjugated under him. The Cylons intended to use
the peace initiative as a ruse. The Cylons laid a trap for the fleet at a
moon caled Cimtar. Militarily superior in numbers and firepower, the Cylon fleet made quick work of the Colonial Fleet. The fleet was all but
destroyed. Fearing that this attack was a ruse for a real assault,
Commander Adama pulled the Battlestar Galactica out of the fray and
retreated to the colonies. There, he discovered that his fears were correct as he watched the Cylons systematically destroy the colonies. After the Cylons left believing they had secured total victory, Commander Adama and his son, Captain Apollo ventured to Caprica to ascertain the estent of the destruction. They discovered that there were survivors. Remembering the tales of the fabled Earth from the Book of the Word, Adama orders all survivors to be gathered together on whatever ships could carry them. The fleet, some 220 ships of all types set off on a lonely quest towards a shining planet known as Earth. Not long after leaving the system with the 12 Colonies, the colonists suffer a food shortage. Captain Apollo, upon discovering that the food was contaminated with pluton poisoning, arrested Sire Uri, one of the members of the newly elected Council of 12, for depriving his fellow colonists of food.
Later, at the Council meeting, Adama suggested going to Carrillon instead
of the much closer Borallus, as he anticipated a Cylon task force at
Borallus. This brought the Council to an uproar as the safe passage to
Carrillon would take the fleet very far out of its way. Captain Apollo
suggested sending a small group of three vipers into the direct way, the
Nova Madigon, a mined corridor of space, to clear the mines so the fleet
can pass through. The Counsil approved this action, and Apollo,
Lieutenant Starbuck and Lieutenant Boomer launched and cleared a path wide enough for the fleet to pass safely. Once the fleet reached Carrillon,
they found that the Ovions, the native race on Carrillon, were willing to
provide the fleet with much needed fuel and food. The graciousness of the
Ovions unnerved Adama to the point that he believed that Carrillon is
another trap. Sire Uri ordered a peace celebration on Carrillon to honor
the three pilots who cleared the way through the Nova Madigon, requiring
all the warriors to be in attendence. Believing that this paradise on
Carrilon was a trap, Adama ordered one squadron held back and their
uniforms given to whoever could be fit into them. Soon, the secret of
Carrillon was revealed... the Ovions were being controlled by the Cylons!!
Apollo and Starbuck, having discovered the true secret of Carrillon, got
involved in a firefight with the Cylons underground in the Tylium mines.
The firefight set fire to the Tylium in the mine.
A basestar was soon discovered near the planet, and a dogfight ensued. The Colonials beat the Cylons back and Apollo and Starbuck went on a suicide assault run on the basestar, using a comm trick to make it seem like four whole squadrons were coming to take out the basestar. The basestar retreated closer to the planet, and Apollo and Starbuck, after determining that the planet was about to explodefromteh volitile Tylium, returned to the Galactica. Carrillon exploded taking the basestar with it.
The Imperious Leader, in an attempt to try to corrall the humans, gave
command of a basestar to the Great Traitor, Count Baltar, with the IL series Cylon, Lucifer, assigned as his attache. He ordered his basestar to follow the human fleet. Meanwhile in the fleet, life was starting to return to some semblance of normalcy. Apollo and the newswoman Serina agreed to take the Seal. Two patrols went out to recon the area around the fleet. One patrol landed on a planet with a Cylon outpost. Unfortunately, this planet also had a biological infection that both pilots, Boomer and Jolly, caught. After they landed on the Galactica, they went to a party in Apollo's honor. They proceded to infect the rest of the warriors with this infection. The other patrol, which consisted of Apollo and Starbuck, investigated a endless black void.
The void interfered with their scanners, and, if it weren't for a brilliant
maneuver by Starbuck, Apollo would have been lost in the void. The return
to the fleet to find most of their fellow warriors down with the infection
that Boomer and Jolly had brought back. Adama ordered Apollo to train a
bunch of shuttle pilots to fly vipers inorder to replace the down pilots.
One of these pilots was Apollo's fiancee, Serina!! Adama ordered the fleet
to enter the void, and Apollo and Starbuck started training the new cadets.
Doctor Salik asked Adama to let him go back to the planet and investigate
the cause of the infection. Adama ordered Apollo, Starbuck lead the cadets in escort of the medical shuttle. Near the planet, they were ambushed by the Cylons in the outpost, and the cadets proved their worth by eradicating the entire phalanx. The medical team landed and took samples, getting the information they needed to stem the infection. Adama revealed to Tigh that he believed the void led to the planet Kobol, the ancient home of the colonists as described by the Book of the Word. A deep probe was sent out with Starbuck and Apollo. Starbuck was lost during the patrol. Distraught, Apollo and Serina were Sealed. During the Sealing, a star appeared in the blackness of the void. It was soon discovered that a planet was orbiting the star.... the planet Kobol!! A landing team was sent down, with Adama, Apollo and Serina amongst the crew that went down. They discovered a pyramid in what Adama believed was the city of Eden.
They entered and explored the pyramid. In the main room, the were greeted by none other than the Great Traitor himself! Baltar explained that he was just as much a victim as the rest of the Colonists. He stated that he believed that a single battlestar could get to the Cylon seat of power and destroy it. As a gesture of good faith, he released Starbuck! While they were in the pyramid, Adama found a pictograph detailing the exodus from Kobol. He'd hoped to find where the 13th tribe, the tribe that settled Earth went to. Meanwhile, Lucifer ordered an assault, and Cylon fighters launched and started to attack Kobol. The warriors on the planet launched, and they were soon supplemented by the warriors who had been treated by Salik! The warriors routed the Cylons, but in a skirmish onthe planet, Serina was shot and killed by a centurion. The writings in the pyramids destroyed, Adama returned to the fleet and the fleet left the void. Some two or three sectares later, a patrol led by Apollo and Starbuck found some odd readings on their scanner. Soon, there were two fighters behind them... Colonial Vipers! The vipers forced the patrol to land on what turned out to be the Battlestar Pegasus, which had been believed to have been lost at the battle of Molecay. Meanwhile, back on the Galacitca,
Adama was distressed at the missing patrol.
Omega, a bridge officer on duty, indformed the commander that there was a communication coming over Fleet Comm Alpha, an autmoatic scrambled
communication beween warships. Not believing that such a transmission
could exist, Adama was surprised to learn that Commander Cain was in fact on Fleet Comm Alpha! Adama invited Cain over and they discussed the fleet situation. Cain drew up plans to capture several Cylon tankers, although he wanted to launch a united assault on Gamorray. Adama had said that such an assault would lead to an unacceptable loss of life. Cain led the capture of the tankers personally, ordering Blue Squadron, under Captain Apollo's command, to destroy the Cylons guarding the tankers while Silver Spar secured the tankers. Cain, however, had decided that it was necessary to destroy the tankers instead of capturing them, forcing the assault on Gamorray that he wanted. Upon returning to the fleet, Cain was ordered to distribute the fuel on board the Pegasus amongst the fleet. Cain refused and was relieved of command. Not long after, a Cylon task force of three basestars, led by Count Baltar, attacked the fleet. Cain, having been reinstated, returned to the Pegasus and pulled it from the fray. He pulled the Pegasus around the task force and squeezed the Cylons between the two battlestars. The Cylons retreated, and Cain and Adama planned the assault on Gamorray.
A ground assault team, consisting of Apollo, Boomer, Starbuck, Bojay,
Sheba, and Cassiopeia, landed on the surface to take out the Cylons
anti-assault batteries. They were successful, but Bojay took a hit in his
leg. The Pegasus withdrew to delay the basestars from attacking the
unguarded fleet. Failing to delay the fighters, Cain ordered the Pegasus
to attack the basestars directly after offloading all unnecessary personnel in shuttles to rendezvous with the fleet. The Pegasus destroyed two of the basestars before disappearing again. The remaining pilots from the Pegasus were welcomed aboard the Galactica as part of her crew.
A group of shining lights that travelled extremely fast began to suddenly
appear sporadically. Patrols sent out to investigate these lights kept
disappearing. A patrol sent to ascertain the location of the missing patrols discovered a planet with the remains of a shipwreck and a solitary survivor, Count Iblis. Iblis accompanied them back to the fleet, where he began trying to convince the fleet to follow him. He promised the fleet safety if they would pledge themselves to him. The Council of the Twelve decided to give the Count three tasks to prove his so-called divinity. One of the tasks was to deliver the Count Baltar. Soon thereafter, a lone Cylon raider carrying Baltar appeared and requested permission to land.
Baltar was convicted of treason and sentenced to the rest of his life on
the prison barge without benefit of parole. This seemed to sway most of
the Council, but Adama remained unconvinced of Iblis's parlor tricks.
He sent Apollo, Starbuck and Sheba back to the planet where they found
Iblis to investigate the wreck. They were confronted by Iblis and Iblis,
in a fit of rage, killed Apollo. On their way back to the Galactica on
board the shuttle with Apollo's corpse, Sheba and Starbuck encountered
the same mysterious white lights that had been plaguing the fleet. They
were brought aboard the Ship of Lights and were introuced to the seraphs.
They explained that Iblis had overstepped his bounds by killing someone
who did not give himself freely, and was therefore being punished. They
continued by bringing Apollo back to life. As a parting gift, they gave
the three warriors the heading to Earth. The warriors, and all patrols
that had gone missing were returned to the Galactica unharmed.
Apollo, Cassiopeia, Starbuck and Sheba discovered a faint transmission
while taking in the view of a Celestial Chamber. The transmission, which
Apollo believed came from Earth, led a patrol to the discovery of a
basestar nearby. Tired of running, Adama and Tigh decided to assault and
destroy the basestar.
They decided to offer Baltar, who was still on the prison barge, his
freedom in exchange for information about the basestar. Baltar provided
accurate information and Starbuck and Apollo snuck into the basestar and
disabled the sensors. Meanwhile, the Galactcia's fighters took on and
destroyed many of the basestar's fighters, and the Galactica was in a toe
to toe fight with the basestar. The basestar was soon destroyed and
Apollo and Starbuck barely escaped from it. The transmission was lost
during the fight, and Apollo tried to get the equipment in the Celestial
Chamber to pick up the transmission again. After he left the chamber, the
scanner kicked to life and showed the Apollo Moon landing.

POST-BG-HISTORY
***SPOILER WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IS TAKEN FROM RICHARD HATCH'S NOVELS, ARMAGGEDON AND WARHAWK. YOU DO NEED TO KNOW THIS TO PLAY IN THIS MUSH.***
Eighteen yahren after Galactica fled from the burned remains of the Twelve Colonies; Commander Adama succumbed to the ravages of time and died. Apollo, Adama's son, was named Interim Commander until the Council of the Twelve could make a permanent decision. At first, Apollo's command seemed a temporary thing as he took off on a seemingly one way mission to rescue Captain Starbuck from a Cylon outpost on the doomed planet Ochoa. On his way to Ochoa Apollo met Valor, a member of a race called the Sky, who had been damaged by a dangerous new breed of Cylon with thought patterns modeled after those of Baltar. Apollo made it to Ochoa barely in time to rescue Starbuck before the planet was ripped apart under the gravitational pull of its two suns. Apollo and Starbuck discovered that the traitor Baltar was nearby and was in possession of a holo-cube that contained a map of all the colonies seeded by the people of Parnassus and later those of Kobol, possibly including Earth. They set off in an attempt to capture Baltar from the Cylon Base Star he commanded, only to discover that he had been deposed by the cogitator Lucifer. Apollo, Starbuck, and Baltar escaped the Base Star with the holo-cube and the Cylons' new Quantum Shift Effect technology and returned to the Galactica, only to learn that much had changed. In Apollo's absence, his sister Athena had been named Interim Commander. Her main contender for the post of Commander was Ambassador Puck, an arrogant little man formerly of the planet Scorpius.
Puck turned out to be the evil Count Iblis in disguise, who was on a
personal mission to corrupt the bloodline of the Lords of Kobol, of whom
Apollo and Athena were direct descendants. When Apollo returned, he thwarted Iblis' plan and with the aid of the other Warriors of the Fleet was able to fight off the ensuing Cylon attack. After the battle ended, the Council of the Twelve named Apollo Commander. Six sectars after his promotion, Commander Apollo led the Fleet to the Xerik system, the location closest of the colonies indicated in the holo-cube. Apollo soon discovered that the original Human colony in the Xerik system had died out many yahren ago, but had been repopulated by another group of refugees from the Twelve Colonies led by the twice thought dead Commander Cain and the Battlestar Pegasus. Poseidon, as the planet was called, had begun the construction of a new Warfleet that included two new Battlestars, the Daedelus and the New Bellerophon and seven smaller Battlecruisers; and had also begun negotiations with the Chitain, an insect like alien race also inhabiting the Xerik system. Unbeknownst to the Colonists, the Cylons were already in league with the Chitain to destroy the Poseidon colony and the Fleet led by Apollo. In addition, Apollo discovered that the original inhabitants of Poseidon had been horribly mutated by some factor in its ecosystem, most likely the water, leaving it impossible for Cain's colony to live there safely.
In a costly battle in which the Battlestar New Bellerophon was destroyed,
the Chitain were defeated and the entire Fleet escaped into QSE with
almost all of the inhabitants of Poseidon as well, barely ahead of a
massive Cylon attack force led by the Imperious Leader himself. The last
remnants of humanity suffered much during the battle, including one of
its few agro-ships that provide the Fleet with food. Even with the
military assistance of two new Battlestars and the three Poseidon
Battlecruisers that survived the assault, the Fleet has been reduced
to much the same condition as when they first left the Twelve Colonies,
uncertain of their destination and lacking in food and supplies.
Captain Starbuck, who was seriously injured to the point where he was
near death in the battle with the Chitain, was put in cryogenic
suspension for over two sectars while Doctors Salik and Cassiopeia
worked on a new treatment to revive the fallen warrior. After two
full sectars of research, an experimental procedure that Salik called
the young man's only hope was ready. The procedure was designed to
regenerate the damaged areas of the warrior's brain. It worked better
than they had anticipated, and Doctor Salik gave the prognosis of a
full recovery.
NAMES
Thematic names are one word in length. Family names are not used.
For example, the following people were all in the same family:
Athena, Adama, Zac, Ila, and Apollo. Ranks and Titles such as Sire,
Commander, and Captain do not count as part of the name. Names are
traditionaly Greek or Egyptian in nature, although there are some
exceptions such as Chameleon and Starbuck evidenced throughout the
series.
PYRAMID
The rules to the Pyramid card game:
The deck consists of 55 hexagonal cards, which is divided into 3
suits: purple, green and orange. Purple ranks highest and orange
ranks lowers. The deck also contains a Capstone (*).
Each suit contains:
3 First level cards
6 Second level cards
9 Third level cards
How To Play
Each player is dealt 6 cards. If a player feels a better hand is
possible, he may discard up to 4 cards and receive replacements
from the dealer. This may only be done once per hand, much the
same as "Draw Poker". Players then construct their best possible
pyramid and compare to the other player hands to determine the
winner.
Ranks of Hands
A pyramid is made up of at least three cards.
1.First level pyramid consist of 2 third level, and 1 second
level card.
2.Second level pyramid consist of 3 third level, and 2 second
level card.
3.Third level pyramid consist of 3 third level, 2 second
level cards, and 1 first level card.
4.Any of the above may be considered "perfect" when all of
the cards used are of the same color. ("Perfect" pyramids
rank higher than non-perfect pyramids.)
5.If two or more perfect pyramids are the same level, then
the highest suit would win. (NOTE: Only perfect pyramids
can be ranked by suit; non-perfect pyramids are considered
to have no suit.)
6.If two or more pyramids are still equal, then the persons
play another hand to decide the winner.
*) The Capstone can be used in place of the first level card
in a Perfect third level pyramid. This is the highest of
ALL PYRAMIDS!
**) The Capstone may also be used as a wild card to replace
any card in any pyramid.
